Planning to build your makeup collection? Great! You’re in the right place. But first, you’ll need to know what you should be buying. Check out this blog post to learn all about the essentials of a solid makeup routine, and how to put together a complete and affordable collection.
Tips On How To Build Your Makeup Collection
1. Start Buying Your Basics
The first step in building your makeup collection is to start buying the bare minimum: a foundation, blush, and concealer. After that, you should bring yourself out of “dirt cheap” territory and buy powder and lipstick (p.s. have you tried this lipstick? so good). Then, once you’ve got your basics down, splurge on the things you love!
This was a tough one because there are so many good ones out there. The rest of this post is dedicated to products that I’ve tried, as well as some popular favorites that I didn’t get to try yet…but keep an eye out for my next blog post where I’ll tell you all about my favorite lipsticks!
2. Learn How To Contour Without Looking Like A Clown
If you want to look like a movie star 24/7, then contouring is essential. But it can be tricky to get a natural contour look. A great way to practice and master the skill is by using a cream contour product.
Draw attention to the high points of your face and diminish the appearance of your cheekbones by using a cream contour product. Apply it with a dense brush and blend, blend, blend!
3. Experiment With The Latest In Beauty
Try new products to see what works for you. That’s how you develop your style! Try a soft mauve eyeshadow, instead of your regular brown. Or try a bright lipstick that’s totally outside the norm. You may hate it, but at least you’ll know for next time!
4. Build Your Foundation Collection
One of the most important parts of your makeup collection is the foundation. Make sure that you start with a good foundation. You can start with just one, then add a few more if you like.
5. Invest In A Good Concealer
Now that you have a foundation, I highly recommend buying a good concealer to go with it. This is another aspect of your collection where there are a million options, so take your time and figure out what works best for you!
